It has been very cold recently so I haven’t drawn up the blind in my sitting room. However this evening, it was a bit milder and I fancied seeing some daylight so I pulled the blind up and low and behold, what was behind it but a pile of bamboo scaffolding. Oh fabulous! How long has that been there – no more than a week as my blind has been closed for that length of time.
There’s barely any point in opening the blind now. Not only is there very little light coming in but the view, which was never attractive by any stretch of the imagination, is now even worse. All I can see is bamboo and wire and string and I’m wondering what it’s all about and how long it’s going there.
This is yet another reason why living in a lane house is not as quaint and romantic as people might imagine. I now have only one window I can see anything out of. It’s like living in a cave now – a cold one with frozen water and constant power cuts. Hey ho.
