Birds in the office

By | December 12, 2012

I made a rare appearance in the office today to finish my visa renewal process. When I got there, weighed down with paperwork I could hear shrieks from the girls and the boys laughing. Then I saw the reason for all the commotion… a small bright green parrot had sought refuge in the room. It was very cold outside and had taken the liberty of flying inside when someone had opened the door.

It seemed to be quite happy sitting on desks and flying from screen to screen. It got a lot of admiring looks from all the staff most of whom were trying to attract it to sit on their PC or desk.

One of the girls
(never managaed to learn her name) rang her friend to bring a bird cage to the office
but until that time, she has decided to keep it in a shoe box to calm
it down.
The bird seemed to be pecking at everything possible so they thought they were try to give it some lunch.

They decided to offer it some left-overs of their rice and veg served on a lid but unsurprisingly it didn’t seem that keen. I suggested that they pop down to the local bird market
at the temple where there were lots of stalls selling seed.

So, the next time I go to the office I expect to see a new resident…. unless they insist on feeding it their own food in which case it will be an “ex-parrot”.
