The tally of lost and stolen is now

  • 3 bicycles
  • 3 mobile phones
  • 2 purses
  • 1 pair Sony headphones

locksmith 2I added another purse on Monday. Somewhere along Nanchang Lu, it either dropped out or was picked form my pocket. I realised very quickly and backtracked immediately but of course, the thing was nowhere to be found. There was about 200rmb in it plus my house key. This time I learnt my lesson – don’t carry bank cards with you unless you need them. Replacing bank cards is a pain in the neck.

It was an inconvenience to have to call out the locksmith and I had to wait in the stifling heat for half an hour, sweat running through my hair and dripping off my chin a I sat on my neighbour’s chair in the shade. Eventually she felt so sorry for me that she gave me a small towel to soak up the drips. My shirt sleeve had become saturated.

The locksmith was a nice man called Mr Wang whom I had called last year when my bicycle lock was broken by a thief. He charged me the equivalent of £8 for what proved to be less than 2 minutes work. thank God for locksmiths!
