The path is so badly thought out that nobody on the complex likes walking on it and prefers instead to walk on the grass on either side. It’s like walking on a cattle grid – very uncomfortable and you have to look down all the time. The spacing of the paving slabs suits nobody but a pygmy.
So they have decided, in their wisdom to replace the grass on the side and try to make people walk on the uncomfortable path. Now, in the west, we would probably just make the path more practical or replace it. But here the idea of fixing the problem rather than making a temporary repair is typical.
This grass has been replaced several times before and will surely be replaced again when it becomes worn down by many more people who are fed up of walking on the poorly designed path.
If you needed an example of how little initiative the Chinese show,as as result of their culture of doig what they’re told, not thinking for themselves, then this is one.
