Chinese wedding photos

You often see Chinese couples in parks posing peeking around trees, frolicking through the gardens leaping the piles of dog shit and pools of children’s urine. They seem to be oblivious to the fact that there are other people there. Nobody seems to think it’s a bit strange that these two people are dressed in their finest and posing for their sentimental, slushy photos which will hang on their walls for decades to come.

And it’s not even their wedding day. They pick a day which looks nice and go for it. And because it’s only for the photos, they hire the kit from a bridal hire shop rather than buy it. In fact, she got married in red for good luck but for the photos she wants a white dress just like in The West. Why they have to copy our traditions and not keep to their own is bewildering.

I found this couple who decided they wanted their wedding photos outside DiJi Shopping Plaza where the builders have yet to finish the extension. What does this say about the young Chinese? That they prefer to have a backdrop of a temple to retail greed than a green and pleasant garden with or without the animal and human excrement.
