Dubrovnik, Croatia

I had no intention of going to Dubrovnik or anywhere in Croatia for that matter but I could not get out of Kotor to the south due to lack of buses and tickets so in order to keep to my overarching plan of getting to Greece I had no choice but to go back north to Dubrovnik.

Here I would get a ferry to Italy and then over to Greece. Seeing Dubrovnik beneath you as you descend the mountain is a sight to behold. It inspires awe and again, on the bus, people reached for their phones to take pictures of the walled city.

I stayed in a basic hotel very close to the bus terminal and port (they are the same place) so it was very handy for me leaving the next day. I had decided to do what I had done i Sarajevo ad go up the cable car to get a good view of the walled town but at £25 a pop I thought again.

Instead I decided to walk around the walls but when I tried to get onto them, it was already late in the day and they still wanted £15 for the pleasure. So I didn’t do that either. I walked and walked and walked around the town for free instead. Sent some postcards and drank coffee and ate cake.

I shall always remember Dubrovniks as a money-grabbing race. I liked it, but I was pleased to get away even though it was to Italy where I had desire to go.
