It’s ok, the pandemic has not been a problem in Tanzania. We all prayed so hard and God has shown great mercy in sparing us. Hooray. At least this is what we are being told by the government.
From Friday we are encouraged to observe three days of prayers in thanks to God for his mercy. And from Sunday evening we should go about our business as usual, return to the cities from the countryside and go back to work.
There is even an official party in celebration of the passing of the virus.

In a country where official figures are only made public on a weekly basis and even then, hard to verify, we only have to guess at the real situation.
I have not personally come across anyone who has been ill although I have come across people who have family members or colleagues who have been sick or died.
It will be nice to have life back to normal even though the numbers are no known and we are not really sure if the situation is safe enough to allow this freedom.
Personally I doubt whether God is coming on Sunday evening and I doubt whether he had anything to do with us not being overwhelmed by the disease. I think it’s probably because the virus came through here at the beginning of the year and because the population is so young and therefore not so affected by it.
