Lane House Renovations

I hate the man who lives underneath my bedroom. I really hate him. He bangs on the ceiling with something very heavy whenever he thinks I am walking too heavily across my bedroom. I have taken to sliding across the floor instead, fearing his wrath.

Saturday morning came and I was in bed when I heard the most tremendous noise coming from downstairs and more disturbingly, the floor beneath my bed sounded like it was collapsing. I got up, got dressed and went downstairs to find workmen in the apartment where the horrid man lives.

And he had gone… gone gone gone. I was so happy and my neighbours on the ground floor were also very happy too – they didn’t like him either and gesticulated to me suggesting he had a screw loose.

So then of course I didn’t mind the work men being there because it meant the git was not there. And I can put up with hammering and drilling if it means I am not worried about violent repercussions when I go to bed.

Then I saw the ceiling and identified the source of the earlier sound. The workmen had started to look underneath the ceiling.

It was all going well until the following Sunday when the workmen turned up at 7am, talked loudly and then started drilling under my head at 7:45am. I went down with a pair scissors and said I would cut the cable the next time they started work earlier than the government regulated time of 8am. I think they got the message!

In any case, I would put up with a lot more than early morning drilling if it means the git does not return. I understand he is only way for 6 months – but by that time I should be out of this flat anyway so I will walk loudly all over my flat for the rest of my stay here without a care in the world.
