I decided to have an afternoon off and go with my camera somewhere busy.
I had always fancied going to the long distance bus station where there is usually a lot of people milling around. However, when I got there the place was like a grave. So I decided to walk around the lanes in that area.

I soon came across a busy lane where there were a lot of people selling from stalls and shops. There were fruit, veg, bread, chickens and all sorts.
I wandered down the street and spoke to everyone. I don’t think they had ever seen a foreigner because I caused quite a disturbance. This is not good when you want to take photos but it inevitable in Nanjing where we are thin on the ground.
Not able to do much about it, I thought I might as well take advantage of my position as a curiosity and chatted to people and then asked whether I could take a photo. Surprisingly everyone was really obliging and even asking whether I would take their photo. I had not experienced anything like it.
I had a good day, got some good shots and made some friends.
