I suppose the fact that I have never been Northern Ireland eve though it’s so close is the same as Tess never having been to Luxembourg. We were so close so we had this crazy idea that we would drive there from our homestay accommodation to get some breakfast.
We were given a recommendation for where to go to see a picturesque town and so it was that we ended up in a bakery in Echternach Luxemburg. We didn’t really have time to go all the way into the city of Luxemburg and in any case it is apparently very congested and not worth the trouble. So we settled on Echternach and what a beauty it was.
Like so many other places in Europe, the centre of the town was pedestrianised and dominated by impressive civic building bearing the national flag. I am afraid to admit I didn’t know what the Luxemburg flag looked like.
I had quite possibly the nicest croissant in the whole world and also got to practice my French – she wasn’t very impressed behind the counter!
