What a lucky break these girls have had to be born white, blonde, tall, pretty and slim. Then they hit the big time – move to Shanghai, put on some nice clothes and just be yourself. There are many companies which will pay such western beauties to merely hang out in their premises as these girls were doing in the IAPM mall today.
And what a draw they were, striking a pose and obliging Chinese with selfies. I have never really understood why anyone would want a picture of themselves with a random foreigner. But then there’s a lot I don’t understand about China, that’s what makes it interesting.
Can you imagine going home and showing your mum your phone ‘Look Mum, I’ve got a photo of me standing next to a stranger.’ Great!
I say ‘Go girls, rake it in while you can!’. If you are young, tall, blonde and beautiful in China there are many more employment opportunities open to you. Adverts for assistants sometimes specify applicant should ‘attractive’ and often ‘Caucasians only’. In China there is no such thing as being politically incorrect – if they want a pretty white girl, they’ll just specify that in the advert.
I suppose I’m just envious!
