Shark tank with a view

I don’t have a very big flat – it’s only one room and a kitchen/bathroom but I have a large balcony and the view from there is great. However it is plagued by mosquitoes and it’s not really possible to sit out there at night when it’s cooler, for this reason. During the day it’s too hot to go out there so I have not been making much use of it.

Then I decided to take action and make a large mosquito net which covers the whole balcony. This should keep out insects while still allowed unobstructed views to the sea and all the way over to Slipway and the Yacht Club.

It took a few days and visits to shops and markets but now I have a great room with two comfortable chairs with tailor-made cushions, a carpet, floor fan and table.

The finishing touch to the room was the addition of two pallets which elevated the chairs high enough to see over the bannister. The view is not unmatched in Dar for beauty.

I have been spending a lot of time in the evenings watching TV and drinking beer in my shark tank untroubled by malarial insects. During the say I sit and marvel with wonder, at the changes in the colours in the Indian Ocean. Every time I look up it’s different and I’ve been trying, reasonably successfully, to capture the colours with my phone.

I don’t think I will ever tire of sitting on the balcony and looking out to sea.
