I have never seen Hongqiao Railway Station as full as on Sunday when I went to pick up some friends. Apparently there was a flurry of snow up in Beijing which resulted in three hours or more delays to trains coming south. Killig some of this time, I went to the departure lounge and looked down upon this heaving mass of black clothed travellers.
It was like looking on an army of black ants all waiting for delayed trains, the lucky ones on seats, the others on bits of cardboard on the floor, and some asleep on their bags.
Arrivals was little better although there weren’t the amount of people waiting. It was just like the Spring Festival all over again.
