Squirrel attack in Bournemouth

By | July 22, 2012
I wasn’t on duty on Wednesday but had decided to hop on the coaches with the students and go to Bournemouth to have a look around. One of the reasons for going was to have fish and chips on the front. Last Wednesday I went to Weston-Super-Mare for the same purpose and had fantastic fish and chips on the beach.
The only place I could find near the front was Harry Ramsden’s. After an age of waiting for them to cook my haddock (had asked for it in order to help preserve the cod stocks) I sat down hungrily to tuck in.
It didn’t take me long to realise I had made a bad mistake by choosing this “Fish and Chip Specialist”. It was really disappointing and I wish I had searched longer for a local place (no pun intended).
Leaving most of the chips I headed back to the lovely park and bumped into my assistant house parent, Caroline. She was sitting on a bench in the sun relaxing.
But not for long. As we sat there a cheeky squirrel, clearly unafraid of humans, jumped onto my knee and looked around for some food. Caroline froze in fear as the squirrel jumped onto the back on our bench. “Don’t let it touch me” shouted Caroline just before the fat grey mischief-making leapt onto her shoulder.
Up she shot, screaming and dislodging the furry creature back onto my knee where it stayed, quickly contemplating his next move.
Her scream soon had people gathering round to have a look. I drew the line at trying to stroke it but others fed it nuts as it sat on my knee.
Animal who have no fear of human live a dangerous life.
