3 Bikes, 2 phones and a purse, several travel cards and a pair of headphones – that’s what my five years in Nanjing cost me. My first bike lasted 11 days before someone helped themselves to it overnight but my current record is my new iPhone which lasted only two days before someone got their hand into my bag on the bus and relieved me of it. Along with lots of alcohol, a jar of coins and a large rat trap, the previous tenant left me a perfectly good bike and a lock that weighs almost as much as the bike itself. If they sold this revolutionary bicycle in Shanghai I would definitely buy one. Designed in Chile it claims to be unstealable because it has a locking system built into it. You have to break the bike to steal it.
It sounds like a good idea but I would like to test the ‘unstealable’ claim by leaving it overnight in Nanjing and seeing if it’s still there in the morning. Only then will I believe it is ready for the Chinese market.
