Twitter unexpected early adopter problems

By | January 4, 2016

I gave up Facebook in 2007 in favour of a new website called Twitter. My friends didn’t think it would take off. Nevertheless I signed up and because I was an early adopter I registered my surname as my twitter handle. After a few months it seemed my friends were right, nobody wanted to follow me and so I gave up on Twitter and also Facebook.

After a lot of pressure and after 7 years, I signed back onto the Facebook profile and then thought I’d also give Twitter another chance.

What I hadn’t anticipated though was the amount of accidental and mistaken postings there are with my Twitter handle because I share my surname with likely tens of thousands of others in the world.

At the moment I have a lot of people commenting on ‘my’ photograph of a nude reclining on a bed. I thought having a generic handle would be advantageous but it seems to have the opposite effect.
