Now if you’ve ever seen a couple arguing in China you will notice how the men are cowering under the onslaught of abuse from the wife/girlfriend. I have never noticed a problem with Chinese females being downtrodden in China – quite the opposite. So maybe it’s just foreign women who feel they need empowerment. Female empowerment is only for wallflowers who cannot stand up for themselves in society where men exist. What’s wrong with them? Are they so weak and shy that they need to be surrounded by only women to feel comfortable?
I cannot imagine anything worse than spending a lot of time in the company of women, especially those who feel threatened by the existence of men in their lives. The business event I attended was meant to encourage and help women get established in business. However, there was the predictable a host of table-top businesses represented by women, not quite home-made candles and greetings cards but not far off.
One woman warned us all to stay away from the markets and on no account should be even look at a piece of fruit or a vegetable which was not organic. Avert your eyes as you walk past the market on Fuxing Lu. And if you buy any food from any other outlet apart from hers you will surely suffer a horrible painful death from all those pollutants you can just ingested.
In response to this clearly pathetic all-women groups which seem to be springing up in shanghai for foreigners, there is a new ‘Women with Attitude’ group for those of us who don’t have a problem with men – like them in fact – and do not need to be surrounded by weak and needy women.
