I was sitting at my PC earlier planning my weekly trip to Shanghai by going on line and checking the timetable http://www.cnvol.com/ I do my usual scrolling down to find a train at a time which suits me and I decided that for interests sake I would count how many trains go from Shanghai to Nanjing every day.
I couldn’t believe I was still counting after 300. I finally stopped at 314. That’s 314 trains to choose from, from Shanghai to Nanjing every day. Some of them go at 300kph (they slowed them down from 350kph to save fuel recently).
The ticket for cattle class is £15 and gets you a seat which reclines almost onto the lap of the person behind. If you get the fast one at 9:00am from Nanjing you are in Shanghai in 1hr 19mins. It’s great!
