Arrival in Kuala Lumpur

I have left The Cameron Highlands behind and got a coach to KL. It took just over 4 hours and was only a quarter full. The scenery was unremarkable – a lot of palm trees and roadside shacks. On arrival at the bus station I decided not to take a taxi and to walk around looking for some food.

I had a map and soon located myself and headed towards Little India where I paid 7 ringets (less than 2 pounds) for a couple of japatis and some vegetarian slop which was fine but not very hot. The streets are very quiet due to Ramadan. In the Cameron Highlands we were told that this was the quietest time of the year and of the week. At weekends and outside Ramadan the roads are chocked with traffic so I am pleased I decided to visit at this time of year.

So the only people who are eating during the day are the Indians and Chinese – this suits me find as all I want is Indian food. Little India was bustling and full of sari shops and gold jewellery sellers and ripped off T shirts.

I am staying at a new hotel called Grid 9 which I believe has midget rooms. I have yet to see them! As long as they have air-con and a shower and towels, that’s all I need right now.
