It is not unusual to see this scene on the roads of Nanjing daily. Drivers (taxi drivers especially) wanting to drive in the opposite direction just turn round in the middle of the road without a thought for the other road users whose passage is blocked.
The car horns start and noise is terrible. They don’t just beep beep but they keep their hands on the horn. Everyone blasting their horn at the man but he’s blocked in by the bus so he can’t move so the noise goes on and on and on.
In this case the bus driver had nobody in front of him and was stopped at a bus stop. He had taken everyone on board but refused to drive off even though the drivers who were blocked in pleaded with him. So the traffic sat there until the man eventually managed to turn the car. Then the bus moved off slowly.
Driving on the wrong side of the road is common particularly for bus drivers. I suppose they think their vehicles are big enough to push everyone else out of the way. Electric bikes often drive on the wrong side of the road which makes crossing hazardous.
