It’s easy to see that Shanghai is a modern global financial city.
The shiny scrapers, beautifully clean streets, top brands in huge shopping mall and illuminations aliens can see from outer space.
But you only have to wander away from the main tourist streets to see old Shanghai. Sharing the roads with Lamboughinis, Rolls Royces, Porches and Farraris are the real Shangaiese going about their business as they have before the world sat up and took notice.
Rat catchers, people selling cleaning materials, fruit and veg all ply their trade on street corners and from bicycles with loud speakers attached all display a more traditional side of the city.
