Polly persauded me that I should take my plaster of paris sculptures that I did a couple of years ago to the art gallery in Caersws to see whether they would like to exhibit them.
I was very reluctant because I had not shown them to anyone other than my family and they are always going to be enthusiastic. I was worried that the gallery owner would be obliged to say nice things about them but then say “They are not really suitable for this gallery” and then I would be embarrassed.
We popped into the gallery first and chatted to the owner, Cathy, and asked her whether we could bring some pieces for her to see. She was a little hesitant but said yes, bring it. So we rushed back to Newtown, wrapped up three pieces and drove back to Caersws. I was REALLY nervous but when I opened the boot of the car for her to look she was very enthusiastic. “Gosh, they’re fun, fantastic. I would be happy to exhibit them” So then we walked around the gallery looking at places to hang them. I said I didn’t really care where she put them as long as they were not in Polly’s attic collecting dust.
So now I await the sale of my sculptures at 200 each.
