I take the bus most days and there is something I have noticed. Whenever passengers push on (they always push on, no matter how many free seats there are), they sit on a double seat but instead of sitting by the window they sit by the aisle. This means that anyone else who comes on looking for a seat has to squeeze past them so that they can sit down.
And the passenger already seated doesn’t even get up to let the new passenger sit down. They merely turn sideways so that the new passenger has to squeeze past in order to reach their seat.

This has always annoyed me but today I realise that it is a perfect demonstration of the utterly selfish behaviour of the Chinese. As long as they’re happy, who gives a damn about others.
This is the attitude you experience when they walk past people in the street who need help, or when they stand by and look instad of helping. It’s seen in the pushing to get on buses and trains even though they have a ticket.
There is no sense of civic duty, no duty of care to strangers. It’s all me me me and I’m fed up of it
