Sleeping in Nanjing

By | May 4, 2013

It’s not unusual to see people asleep at their desks during lunchtime any time of the year. However, in the summer people crash anywhere and everywhere – even outdoors with pedestrians walking by.

I don’t know how anyone can sleep in a public place but I guess some have no option.

The railway station is a popular place for those looking to bed down for the night. Some of them are waiting for a train but others just need somewhere dry and safe.

The workers at our compound have been digging the garden over ready for the summer flowers and it was not even 11:30am when I turned the corner and found them all fast asleep. What a strange sight it makes.
