There are countless boys playing basketball (I use the term ‘playing’ loosely – they are simply trying to throw it through a hoop – there is no actual game going on), girls speed-walking around the track, men extending their limbs on the exercise machines and kids running around.
However, this week I came across a huge crowd of people on the running track taking part or watching in what appeared to be a dance competition.
There were groups of middle-aged women in matching uniforms, some dancing and others waiting in the wings for their turn to come. There appeared to be a panel of judges so clearly it was a serious competition.
So all that street dancing outside the library and other places around the city was, perhaps, all in preparation to this!
