It’s only a week to go at the school in Street, Somerset. It’s been a long summer with the usual ups and downs. The worse thing is the unexpected expense and calamitous crash of my laptop and loss of data. I am now sitting in a pub in Street reinstalling all my software, getting my passwords back, changing all the computer settings to suit me etc.
It really is a horrid job getting a new computer as you want it. I would pay good money to get someone else to get it just right. There are so many passwords for so many sites and of course I had set my pc to remember them all so now I don’t have a clue what they are.
And in the school, the firewall is so strict that I cannot download any of the software I need so I am having to come down here to The Bear on the High St to do it using their wifi. At least it gives me an excuse to have a drink in a normal non-school setting with real people around me.
Part of the huge inconvenience (to go about it again) is that I have lost all the info about my expedition and I am due to lead it in less than four weeks. I have managed to get all the email addresses from the members back again but lost pretty much everything else.
Oh well, as we always say, it wouldn’t be an expedition if everything went to plan… and the thing hasn’t started yet!
