Thursday was Thanksgiving and Sue decided to go with her friends to Blue Sky on Shanghai Lu for a grand dinner. I was at work and returned with a dish of aubergine and rice for my dinner. After eating half, I gave up on it, sat back, relaxed and starting reading a magazine.
Soon afterwards I heard a commotion outside the door and opened it to find Sue being held up by several of her friends. My first conculsion she was too drunk to walk (she was laughing).
Her friends carried her in and put her on the sofa. Then they explained that she had fallen down the steps outside Blue Sky into the road (not drunk apparently) and hurt BOTH ankles!
Wow what bad luck to do both at the same time.
We put ice onto both ankles and elevated them. Her colleagues disappeared leaving yours truly in charge of caring for the invalid. I told her that she probably hadn’t broken it because she could move it, albeit painfully, and wiggle her toes. We both concluded that it was probably a bad sprain. She went to bed with a couple of strong painkillers.

I checked on her the next morning and she looked dreadful. She had clearly not slept and was keen to go to hospital. Her school assistant called BENQ and soon there was an ambulance on its way to scoop her up and take her away. Fortunately she was still in good spirits, even when the x-ray showed a break not a strain.
She is now in plaster and not able to get around and guess who her primary carer is? Yes, poor woman, I’m the only option… and I’m going to Shanghai Sunday until Wednesday eve so she will have to fend for herself for a while. Luckily she has lots of friends who will take it in turns to come over.
OMG – it really was broken! Which ankle – or both??? I know exactly what it is like – I broke mine a few years ago! Oh dear that is dreadful! I'll see if I can catch her on Skype!
She broke her left and sprained her right. She is quitre chirpy though and has loads and loads of visitors who cook for her and tend to her as you can imagine.
